The manufacturer of the Rhino water fountain, Watership Down Technologies (WDT), has gone to extraordinary lengths to prove the antivandal properties and strength of the product. Hitched between two tractors at John Deere’s UK headquarters in Langar, Nottinghamshire, two of the Rhino’s steel glass fillers (spouts) were screwed together to form a tow bar attached via heavy duty tow ropes to a 20 ton John Deere 9460R tractor and a 12 ton, 7230R
tractor, a total of 690 horse power.
 
The glass fillers took the huge strain exerted by the towing process as the John Deere 9460R tractor proceeded to tow its 946 R tractor along the landing strip at a nearby disused airfield. WDT managing director, Barrington Ward said: “We are convinced that the Rhino water fountain is the most durable on the market and we wanted to demonstrate this in an eye-catching and dramatic way. “This test on the spout - usually the most vulnerable component in a water fountain unit - has laid down a challenge which I’m sure our competitors will be unable to equal,” said Mr Ward.
